The End of our Journey!

We can’t believe that our African Journey has now finished! We have had such a great time and we know how lucky we have been to have been given the opportunity to be part of it. We hosted a Fairtrade Breakfast last Monday, shared all of our hard work with the rest of the school on World Book Day and performed an African Dance at Assembly. We made lovely bookmarks and sold them, all money raised will go to Mary’s Meals. We are now away for a well deserved trip to Ardentinny for a week!

Reading Hut

We had great fun assembling our Reading Hut in our class today! We intend to read our stories from the hut to some of our friends on World Book Day! Our Hut is in Madagascar, that is why we have a palm tree!

Today we had a go at writing some acrostic poems. Some of us have still to finsh them, but they are all very good. Here is an example of some of them.

Animals roam the beautiful African plains,

Fear of death conquers the land,

Rainforests provide homes for many people and animals,

Important people, like Nelson Mandela,

Crops are grown as food to eat, as food is essential,

Aids is common in this poor third world continent.

Africa is very poor,

Farming all day long to earn little money,

Rivers flow through this huge continent,

It’s wildlife is amazing,

Children are orphaned, as their parents die of Aids,

Africa is a beautiful continent, with lots of countries.
